The Unexpected Path

In 2020, the world around us stopped. While we were shut down from Covid, I (Amy) began making bouquets from the flowers I had growing around my vegetables. As they sat on my kitchen counter, I experienced a lightness and joy that I had been missing thanks to the pandemic lock-down. I knew I had to share this beauty with those I loved. I began leaving hand cut bouquets on the doorsteps of my friends and family and calling them to look outside. The simple, natural beauty brought smiles to their faces, and cheer into their homes.

I never sought out flowers specifically, but during that season I began to discover a love and passion for growing and arranging flowers. A few months after opening Chesapeake Homestead, I decided to bring a more intentional focus to cut flower production in 2022.

Chesapeake Homestead provides our specialty cut flowers to local florists, business, subscriptions and through special orders. You can also find a selection of bouquets at our seasonal pop up markets for customers to “grab and go”. Everything is freshly cut from our farm.
